어디에 가요?

Going places: 에, 에서 and (으)로

에 vs 에서

  • 에 — destination or location of existence: 학교*에 가요* (I go to school), 집*에 있어요* (I'm at home).
  • 에서 — the place where an action happens, or "from": 학교*에서 공부해요* (I study at school), 서울*에서 왔어요* (I came from Seoul).

(으)로 — by, towards

  • Means of transport: 버스*로 가요*, 지하철*로 와요*.
  • Direction: 오른쪽*으로 가세요* — go to the right. 으로 after a consonant (except ㄹ), 로 after a vowel or ㄹ: 지하철로, 집으로.

타다 = to ride/take (transport), with 을/를: 버스를 타요.
