The past tense is built on the same 아/어 form as the present. Replace -요 with -ㅆ어요:

Time words usually come first: 어제 영화를 봤어요. Useful: 어제 (yesterday), 지난주 (last week), 작년 (last year), 주말에 (at the weekend), 아까 (a moment ago).
