Nouns ending in -ing are de-words and usually come from verbs: ontwikkelen → de ontwikkeling, veranderen → de verandering. Nouns ending in -heid are de-words from adjectives: vrij → de vrijheid, gezond → de gezondheid. Nouns with ge-…-te are het-words and collective: het gebergte, het gebladerte.
